Southwest Florida Wilderness

Gulf Backcountry Expeditions

Tide-governed routes through coastal estuaries, remote pine flatwoods, and mangrove labyrinth channels. Every field outing is capped at six travelers for trail safety and habitat protection.

Field Routes

Three Backcountry Terrains

Tidal Waterway

Ten Thousand Islands Paddle

Navigate shallow oyster bars and labyrinthine red mangrove creeks under strict tidal windows. We run sea-kayak transits out of Chokoloskee, staging potable water and monitoring afternoon Gulf wind shifts.

Inland Forest

Picayune Pine Flatwoods

Ten to fifteen miles through wet prairie scrub, dwarf cypress domes, and mature slash pine stands. Foot travel demands deliberate pack weight discipline and ankle-support footwear across uneven limestone ridges.

Coastal Marsh

Fakahatchee Salt Marshes

A remote wading expedition tracing freshwater drainage into Gulf saltwater estuaries. Travelers encounter rare royal palm hammocks and native epiphytes guided by satellite telemetry and topographic navigation.

Dawn Departure

Outpost De-Rig

Forty-eight hours out, we cross-reference National Oceanic tide predictions, wind vectors, and inland swamp water tables to finalize our trail itinerary.

At our Naples outpost, every dry bag, water filtration kit, and satellite beacon undergoes field inspection and individual weight calibration.

We deploy at first nautical twilight to clear exposed salt flats and pine flatwoods before the midday subtropical heat and humidity peak.

Returning to base, equipment is desalinated, thoroughly inspected for wear, and route logs are filed for regional conservation records.

Trail Dispatch

Field Notes

Navigating the outer mangrove shoals without a commercial tour swarm was incredible. Their tide calculations and route pacing were exact to the minute.

Marcus T., Coastal Kayaker

The Picayune traverse requires serious hydration discipline and proper boots. Strong Outside handled every contingency with quiet, thorough competence.

Elena V., Backpacking Guide

Far beyond standard Florida tourism. We spent three full days in remote Fakahatchee waterways without encountering another human footprint.

Custom Expedition Planning

We arrange private multi-day traverses, scout missions, and research field access across Collier County wildlands.
